Rev 9:1 And the fifth angel [messenger??who] sounded, and I saw a star [morning star?/Jesus or Satan?] fall from heaven unto the earth [hell??]: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit [hell??]. Rev 9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit [hell??]; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit[actual historical event or metaphor? Both?]. *** Topic Point to Make for Blog Post***: Jesus is the the star spoken about in Revelation 9. ***Show key word interpretations in the Greek
(ex. bottomless pit interprets as abussos - abussos: boundless, bottomless Original Word: ἄβυσσος, ου, ἡ Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine Transliteration: abussos Phonetic Spelling: (ab'-us-sos) Definition: boundless, bottomless Usage: the abyss, unfathomable depth, an especially Jewish conception, the home of the dead and of evil spirits. **If thrown to earth where he opens the bottomless pit, must mean the bottomless pit resides at earth. Earth = home of Dead and Evil Spirits **Also: Job 38:7 uses the term “star” or “stars” to refer to an angel or angels **The word angel comes from the Greek word aggelos (pronounced angelos), which means messenger [insert Greek interlinear interpretation] Scripture to reference: Jesus and Satan both referred to as "Morning Star" - Satan = Isiah 14:12 and Luke 10:18 Jesus = Revelation 22:16 Also consider: Revelation 5: Jesus is compared to Lion to tribe of Judah 1 Peter 5:8: Satan is compared to Lion looking for someone to devour Greek verb pipto. Pipto means “to fall” and since the word is a perfect participle, so the star had already fallen and remained fallen. Reference to Satan: See Ezekiel 28:12-16 and Luke 10:18. In Luke 10:18 Jesus said that He had seen Satan fall from heaven. He was thrown out of heaven and was no longer allowed to remain in heaven. Therefore, easy to conclude that the star in Revelation 9:1-2 refers to Satan and the angel [messenger] in Revelation 20:1-3 is a holy angel [messenger]. Revelation 20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss [is abyss different than bottomless pit?? No - Greek word is the same], and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. A couple searches turned back results that some believe that the star is not Satan but another fallen angel or demon. If so, why would the key be given to one of Satan’s followers? While it appears in Revelation 9:11 that the angel of the abyss, a fallen angel, who is called Abaddon or Apollyn [Paul?!?!? The "false Apostle Paul" is Appollyn right? Double check this] could possibly is the leader of the evil angels or demons imprisoned in the abyss... what a can of worms. Another deep study for another day.....this is going to require a complete re-reading of all of Revelation use this website (much better commentary on word definitions)
