I took the boys school supply shopping and on our way home the baby fell asleep and since he needed the nap, I needed to drive. We also needed lunch so we decided to take the trek to Chic-Fil-A. Our normal route had construction over the bridge, so we took a scenic route. We ate and played. On our way home I decided to take the main roads because even the scenic route was too scenic and took an additional 15 minutes on the already nearly 40 minute drive. Well, the main roads had road construction too. As I noticed the 2 lanes coming down to one as we approached a stop light, I looked over to see if I could get over and sure enough, there was a space! But the lady behind me sped up and did not let me merge. I started to get upset. 3 kids ready to be home. Im ready to be home. We've been out ALL day and Im so very outnumbered. And tired. And now FULL. But before I could get terribly worked up, I noticed that I actually didnt need to merge at all. The light we were approaching was the light I actually needed to turn left at, completely avoiding the construction altogether... And it got me to thinking... How many times has God worked this way in my life? How many times have I THOUGHT I needed to go a certain way, only to be BLOCKED, start to get upset, but then discover that I didnt need to move that direction at all? It made me think of this verse: Proverbs 16:9 God, Thank you for speaking in metaphors and parables. Thank you for opening up the scriptures to me in ways that I can understand. Thank you for creating me in such a way that I can do the same for others. Father, Your ways are greater than my ways. Please help me to follow YOUR lead and trust completely in the path You have laid for me. In the name of Your blessed son Jesus, Amen.
